1. Do I need a consultation prior to a procedure? Can they be done on the same day?
Yes, a consultation is required prior to a procedure. The consultation allows us to discuss your pet's initial findings on an awake oral exam, make recommendations, and review necessary pre-operative diagnostics to ensure proper preparation for anesthesia and a safe procedure.
Unfortunately, we do not typically schedule same-day procedures to ensure all diagnostics and preparations are completed beforehand.
2. How long is the consultation for my pet and how much is it?
Consultations usually last between 45 minutes to an hour and cost $325.
3. Are dental radiographs/general anesthesia included in the consultation for my pet?
Neither general anesthesia nor sedation is performed during the consultation. Please refer to Question 1.
4. Why are an anesthetized exam and dental radiographs necessary for my pet? Why is general anesthesia required at all?
An anesthetized exam is essential because we need to evaluate more than just the surface of your pet's teeth. To assess the health of the bones, ligaments, and other internal structures, X-rays under anesthesia are required for a comprehensive evaluation.
General anesthesia is necessary to ensure the safety of your pet and everyone involved. It allows your pet to remain completely still during the procedure, which is crucial for obtaining clear and accurate X-ray images.
Please refer to the blog post ‘Importance of Anesthesia.’
5. Can I have a procedure done here if I had a consultation done elsewhere for my pet?
We do require that all consultations take place at our facility so we can make sure we’re fully informed about your pet’s needs and give them the best care possible.
6. Can I get an estimate for the procedure before the consultation for my pet?
We cannot give an accurate estimate until we complete the consultation. The consultation includes an awake oral exam to help us make the most informed recommendations and offer a proper cost estimate based on the findings.
7. Are procedures performed here for my pet?
Yes, procedures are performed at our facility with top-notch equipment and staff.
8. Can I wait with my pet or in the lobby during the procedure?
We understand that you want to be with your pet, but for their safety, we ask that owners do not stay during the procedure. We maintain a calm, professional environment with minimal distractions to make sure everything goes smoothly.
9. Will my pet have to stay overnight after the procedure?
We closely monitor all our patients once they are woken up from anesthesia. Typically, most pets are ready to go home after a few hours. In the event that your pet requires further care, they will be transferred to an emergency hospital and you will be promptly notified.
10. Can I bring my pet in for an emergency procedure?
If your pet is having an emergency, they should first be seen by an emergency vet for immediate care. If the vet determines that your pet requires a transfer and is stable enough to be transported, they will contact us to arrange care.
11. Are echocardiograms performed for my pet here?
Yes, we offer cardiology services at our facility, including a consultation with a board-certified cardiologist, echocardiograms, chest radiographs, and more as recommended.
12. Is it safe for my pet to go under general anesthesia?
General anesthesia can sometimes be risky, but we take appropriate precautions for each of our patients, including performing the recommended pre-operative diagnostics. In addition, we have a board-certified anesthesiologist who will be monitoring your pet while they are under anesthesia.
13. Do you accept insurance for my pet?
We do not directly accept insurance. However, you can pay out-of-pocket and submit a claim to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. All medical records and invoices will be provided to you as well.
14. Do you offer payment plans for consultations and/or procedures?
Yes, we work with CareCredit and Scratchpay to offer flexible payment options.

Avoid giving your pets hard objects like billysticks, bones, bones made out of plastic and nylon, antlers, or hooves, as they can lead to broken teeth (damage to the enamel and/or dentin). A simple test is to gently press your fingernail into the object. You should be able to leave an impression or slightly reshape it with light pressure.
